This bulletin addresses the deprecation of support for Tomcat 7 as of TeamServer version 3.7.10 which will be released in December 2020.
What's changing?
Currently, Contrast supports TeamServer running on Tomcat versions 7 and 9. Due to the age and issues in Tomcat 7 (see previous email and announcement posted here: Support Bulletin: Ghostcat CVE-2020-1938).
As of December 1, 2020, TeamServer will support only version 9 of Tomcat.
Why are we making this change?
- The Apache Tomcat team has announced end of life for Tomcat 7 as March 31, 2021, and Tomcat 8 went end of life as of June 30, 2018.
- Contrast is aligning support for Tomcat 9 across our SaaS and EOP offerings.
What does this mean to you?
This impacts on-premises/non-SaaS customers running the Contrast TeamServer on Tomcat version 7. Note that customers who use the Contrast-supplied, embedded Tomcat should just upgrade to TeamServer version 3.7.10 when it is released in December.
If you are a SaaS customer there is no action required on your part.
TeamServer versions lower than 3.7.10 will continue deprecated support of Tomcat 7, but we strongly recommend that on-premises (EOP) customers upgrade to the latest version of TeamServer to ensure you have the latest features and support.
