Issued: December 12, 2024 (Eastern/U.S.)
We're writing to inform you about an important change to the Contrast MS Team Webhook integration, occurring on January 31, 2025. We highly recommend that you take the actions outlined below to prevent disruption to your MS Teams integration.
- What is happening?
- What does this mean for my organization?
- What do I have to do as a SaaS Customer?
- What do I have to do as an EOP Customer?
- What do I do if my MS team's integration is not working?
What is happening?
On January 31, 2025, Microsoft will transition Webhook based connectors within the O365 Connectors service in Teams to a new URL structure which will cause Contrasts existing webhook based integration to no longer function. You can read more about this change here.
What does this mean for my organization?
As a result of this change your existing MS teams webhook integration will cease to function in its current form on January 31, 2025, unless you take the actions below to amend the webhook within your 0365 environment and then change the webhook URL in the Contrast MS teams integration.
For EOP customers, a fix to move to the new URL structure will be included in the January EOP release (vs 3.12.1) scheduled for release on January 21st, 2025.
What do I have to do as a SaaS Customer?
On January 14, 2025, as part of the standard Contrast monthly SaaS release cycle we will introduce a new MS teams integration that will support the new URL structure. However, as this will render existing connections invalid, we have elected to initially roll this out disabled and hidden to allow our Support and PS teams to work with you to ensure you have taken the needed steps before we enable the updated URL structure for you.
Before requesting that the new MS teams integration is enabled please take the following steps:
- Within your O365 environment you will need to create a new instant cloud flow within Power Automate.
- Once completed the Power Automate workflow will create a new webhook URL that can then be pasted into the MS teams integration configuration panel within the Contrast platform. Please store this somewhere safe or ensure you have access to this URL for step 4.
- Contact Contrast Support to request access to the new, updated MS teams integration, be enabled for you. We will aim to enable this within one (1) Business day. Once enabled this will render your existing MS teams integration invalid. Please only request this when you are ready to migrate.
- Once enabled you will need to update the URL in the MS teams integration to the URL generated, and stored, in step 2 above.
In order to provide as much guidance as possible we have created the following documentation that you can follow:
https://docs.contrastsecurity.com/en/microsoft-teams--preview-.html.
We also suggest watching the following video if you are unsure on how to create Power Automate workflows:
Building a secure power automate workflow.
You can set up your Power Automate workflows ahead of time and immediately request access to the new MS Teams integration once we release this functionality on the 14th of January.
We will remove the old MS Teams integration and enable the new integration for ALL customers on the 11th of February as part of our normal monthly SaaS release cycle.
What do I have to do as an EOP Customer?
Once you upgrade your EOP environment to the January 2025 release version (3.12.1) a new MS teams integration that will support the new URL structure will be introduced. Unfortunately, due to the nature of the change, once EOP has been upgraded any existing MS teams integrations will become invalid and so we are providing you with advance notice of actions you should take if you are utilizing the MS teams integration before you proceed with your EOP upgrade.
To enable a fully functionally MS teams integration post the January EOP release please follow these steps:
- Within your O365 environment you will need to create a new instant cloud flow within Power Automate.
- Once completed a URL will be generated that can be used within the Teams service MS teams integration.
- In the MS teams integration configuration panel update the URL to the one generated above and save the changes. This will allow Contrast to send alerts correctly to MS teams.
You can set up your Power Automate workflows ahead of time so that you will only need to adjust the URL in the MS teams integration once you have completed the upgrade to EOP v3.12.1.
What do I do if my MS team's integration is not working?
If, once you have performed the steps above, your MS Teams integration is not functioning please raise a ticket with Contrast support through the normal means.
Please note whilst the team will do everything in their power to help you resolve the issue, they are not able to provide troubleshooting on the O365 Power Automation workflows themselves.
If you have any questions, concerns, or would like to discuss this issue further, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.
Kind Regards,
